Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

THE candidate forums in the Daintree, Port Douglas and Mossman have revealed a strong line up of citizens putting themselves for what will undoubtedly be a difficult task in the next couple of years as the reborn shire gets back on its feet. The forums have proven invaluable, not only for allowing people to meet candidates they have never previously met, but because hearing them speak and answer questions has had the remarkable effect of raising most of them in the estimations of the audience – certainly with me, and I have heard other people make the same comment.

It is heartening to discover the talent among the candidates, and with it to dare to think that a strong and effective council has a good chance of emerging from the poll.
