T20 Big Bash gets fiery

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - CLASSIFIEDS -

ROUND three of the Muddies Big Bash T20 cricket comp saw the IGA Bandits continue their big hitting ways to dispatch the Sheraton Five Stars in a well lubricated and entertaining Friday night fixture.

The Bandits won the toss and set out to dominate the Five Stars from the outset.

McLeod and Nicholson hit out with a 68 run opening stand scoring 33 and 28 respectively.

Sam also contributed with a free flowing 31, pushing the Bandits to a super competitive 160 off 19 overs.

Brad M was the pick of the Sheraton bowlers with 1 for 3 off his 2 overs, with Hamish picking up 1 for 12 (2).

The Five Stars needed to make a strong start to chase down the massive total of the Bandits and they started well with Brad (15) and Nathan (13) scoring quickly to lay a solid platform. Three quick wickets saw Barts come to the crease who had a point to prove against the chatty Bandits.

The left hander hit the IGA team to all parts, scoring 36 in quick time. The remainder of the Five Stars couldn’t hang around with Barts, falling 50 runs short, with 4 overs left to bowl.

This Friday will see the red hot Bandits take on the B Team Blasters at the Mud Pit from 6.30pm. Come along to what will be great night of big hitting.
