Ri­vals take out U-12s

THE Mud­dies Un­der-12 team came up against Ather­ton 1, who proved to be too strong for the lo­cal boys at the Port Dou­glas Cricket Ground on Satur­day morn­ing.

Mud­dies cap­tain, Abel Terry won the toss and elected to bat with Ather­ton 1 field­ing.

Vin­cent Killeen scored 16 runs of which 3 were 4’s and he re­tired af­ter 16 balls faced.

Liam Clacherty scored 13 not out hit­ting 3 im­pres­sive 4’ s. Pheonix Dar­ling­ton, Bai­ley El­liot and Xan­der Dar­ling­ton all scored 5 runs a piece.

New to the game, Lockie Dowling nearly scored his first 4 but it was saved at the bound­ary at the last minute.

Scott Cooper and Con­nor White got two wick­ets apiece fol­lowed by Josh Ed­ward and Nick Rayner who also got one wicket each.

There were some su­perb catches taken on the day by Josh Ed­ward, Luke Toomey, Vin­cent Killeen and Ryan Stan­away.

Luke Toomey bowled well and was un­lucky not to get a wicket but kept Ather­ton’s runs to a min­i­mum and took 2 good catches as wicket keeper.

The Mud­dies fin­ished their overs with a re­spectable 101 runs.

But the Mud­dies were were pipped at the post by Ather­ton who scored 116 runs.
