Rivals take out U-12s
THE Muddies Under-12 team came up against Atherton 1, who proved to be too strong for the local boys at the Port Douglas Cricket Ground on Saturday morning.
Muddies captain, Abel Terry won the toss and elected to bat with Atherton 1 fielding.
Vincent Killeen scored 16 runs of which 3 were 4’s and he retired after 16 balls faced.
Liam Clacherty scored 13 not out hitting 3 impressive 4’ s. Pheonix Darlington, Bailey Elliot and Xander Darlington all scored 5 runs a piece.
New to the game, Lockie Dowling nearly scored his first 4 but it was saved at the boundary at the last minute.
Scott Cooper and Connor White got two wickets apiece followed by Josh Edward and Nick Rayner who also got one wicket each.
There were some superb catches taken on the day by Josh Edward, Luke Toomey, Vincent Killeen and Ryan Stanaway.
Luke Toomey bowled well and was unlucky not to get a wicket but kept Atherton’s runs to a minimum and took 2 good catches as wicket keeper.
The Muddies finished their overs with a respectable 101 runs.
But the Muddies were were pipped at the post by Atherton who scored 116 runs.
