BREAK-INS, graffiti and theft is continuing to occur at Mossman’s schools, prompting police to call on community members to keep an eye out for loiterers.
For the past several weeks there has been numerous offences committed on the grounds outside of school hours and numerous youths aged between 10 and 15 have been cautioned, however offences are continuing to occur.
Mossman senior constable Cassandra Hill said unknown offenders have been smashing windows to gain entry into classroom and stealing items, and loitering in school grounds, leaving rubbish behind and causing damage to the schools with graffiti.
‘‘Aside from the fact it is illegal, it’s taking away resources and money out of our school, which affects our children in those schools,’’ Senior Constable Hill said.
‘‘If parents can please be aware of where their children are at all times and if the public can assist us to help combat this, it will be greatly appreciated.’’
If anyone observe any person on school grounds outside of school hours they are urged to contact Police Link on 131 444, or crime stoppers on 1800 333 000.
