Seachangers, investors boost sales
SOME Perth buyers bought 17 Birdwing St, Port Douglas, recently in a sightunseen sale for $405,000. Ray White Port Douglas sales and marketing manager Caroline Yarr said the buyers would move in soon. The vendors were Melbourne-based investors who sold two properties in the town and had bought into the Niramaya at the same time. Ms Yarr said the sale was quite typical of recent action in the market. Ms Yarr believes Port Douglas is experi- encing population growth. ‘‘I think it’s a bit of seachange thing,’’ she said. ‘‘I think people are scaling down their lives and leaving the stress of the city behind. And we’re affordable.’’ Similarly, rental vacancies were very tight.
