Jasper Maunder AGE: 7 CLUB: Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club
How long have you been a nipper? For about four years now, but this is my first year that of being able to compete. Why did you join? My older sister and brother do it. And I am pretty fast so I wanted to have a go. What is the best thing about being a nipper? That I can run and swim well. I have learnt a lot of new skills, I can wade and dolphin dive. What is the hardest thing? Probably swimming. What is your best event? Beach flags and anything running. I won the Coles Junior Challenge for the under eight boys 2.5km in the Great Barrier Reef Marathon last weekend. Do you have a favourite team mate? Mitchell Knight. He is a great role model and he won nipper of the year. He is really nice to us and fun. Who is your coach? Damian. He has taught me heaps and is really supportive. Future goals in lifesaving? Maybe to become a professional Ironman. As the lifesaving season is now over here, will you keep practising your skills? Yes. I will probbly keep practising my diving techniques and keep running. I am really looking forward to next year because we can start board skills.
