including Commonwealth and Olympic Games racer Steve Moneghetti who took out first place in his namesake marathon.
Moneghetti told News Ltd that while he started as favourite he didn’t feel any pressure to break the tape first.
‘‘Believe it or not, I don’t go in with the intention to win these races,’’ he said.
‘‘I just go out to have a good day, respect the distance and enjoy the company.’’
The marathon featured beach and rainforest sections, with the steep climbs of the Bump Track making the biggest impression on Moneghetti.
‘‘That was really hard that part,’’ he said.
‘‘Not many marathons have a track like that going up.
‘‘But at least you can try to enjoy it on the way down.’’
