POOL Mekanics, who service pools in the Port Douglas area, got a surprise when they were called to a residence in Port Douglas after the owner discovered a special visitor on their premises.
Ian Nash and a colleague attended to the issue, although not a normal part of their day to day routine servicing pools, and found a 9-foot python relaxing in the pool shed.
They constructed a device to catch the snake, which turned out to be an amethystine python.
Once caught, it was taken to a local wildlife park but the news there ws that it could not accommodate the reptile.
The python was safely released into bushland outside Craiglie, after a nervous trip in the car for the fellow holding the snake.
