Tradeshow kicks off

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

THE TEQ Queensland on Tour tradeshow through the UK and Nordic region has kicked off this week, and Doug has packed his winter woollies and set off to represent the region. The 10-day tour will include destinations such as Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, London, Manchester and Glasgow and aims to raise awareness and the profile of the destination, to develop business opportunities with key trade partners, and provide training sessions for retail sales and reservation staff. To support our regional push on this tour will be representatives from locally based products Jungle Surfing and Silky Oaks Lodge. Tropical North Queensland will dominate this tour heavily, with seven of the 15 products/regions from this area and the rest from regions including the Whitsundays and Sunshine Coast. It is great to have strong representation from TNQ in this long-haul international market, to show off the natural assets and diversity of products in our region.

As many would have noticed, tourism numbers have dropped, however feedback from several operators indicates a better November than forecast. With strong bookings ahead for the Christmas / School Holiday period, it should be a great end to the year and if our good weather continues, it will be a great start to 2014.
