Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

LEGENDARY Canadian singersongwriter Leonard Cohen visits Cairns Convention Centre for one show only on Tuesday, November 26.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, among other prestigious awards, penned the hits ‘‘Suzanne’’, ‘‘Hallelujah’’ and ‘‘Famous Blue Raincoat’’ and is regarded as one of the world’s greatest singer-songwriters.

His more famous songs achieved distinction in their day but have since been burnished over the years in a career that seems to roll on and on, not least thanks to cover versions of songs like ‘‘Hallelujah’’ by more contemporary artists including Jeff Buckley.

The 79-year-old star will be perform- ing in Cairns for the first time, backed up by a 12-piece band. The show starts at 8 pm. Tickets are on sale from ticketlink.com.au or 1300 855 835.
