THE Aus­tralian Con­ser­va­tion Foun­da­tion has wel­comed the Queens­land Gov­ern­ment’s his­toric re­turn of 354,790 hectares of na­tional park on Cape York Penin­sula to tra­di­tional own­ers un­der the Cape York Penin­sula Land Ten­ure Res­o­lu­tion process. Yes­ter­day’s land hand-over con­cludes more than two decades of ne­go­ti­a­tion be­tween Tra­di­tional Own­ers and Gov­ern­ment that be­gan in 1992 and has been pos­si­ble be­cause of bi­par­ti­san sup­port for a land ten­ure res­o­lu­tion process that is unique to Cape York.
