Papillon Pete steps up

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - FRONT PAGE -

IN my changing the greater part of Nautilus Street into the landmark it is today, singlehandedly over the years, the time has come when I must again say I need help.

A recent idea of mine is to ask landscapers to contribute some labour and skill even if it’s only for an hour or so every while – if a few of them do this the benefits would be huge.

Someone who has stepped up is Peter Murphy of Papillon Landscapes and I would like to thank him and his family very much.

I thank Papillon Landscapes for all they have done and continue to do. They are a tower of strength.

At this point I would like to make a special word of thanks to our new mayor Julia Leu and the willing council staff, who without their support I would never have achieved what we have today.

It was in 2011 I was recognised by Julia Leu with a plaque erected on the site for the years that I have been involved in my ‘‘dream garden’’.

My daughter Tania sent me for my birthday, a canvas frame that reads: The happiest people don’t have the best of everything/They just make the best of everything!
