Douglas library with no internet
AFTER around six-weeks without internet, Douglas Shire residents reliant on the internet at the Mossman Library will have to remain patient.
General Manager Corporate Services Darryl Crees said as part of the de-amalgamation, a new computer network was established to facilitate all of the new Douglas Shire Council operations.
‘‘ To ensure the security of Council’s operations, the computers located at the Mossman Library and Port Douglas Kiosk for utilisation by the public can not be connected to the network until an isolated environment is created,’’ he said.
‘‘We appreciate the importance of computer access to the library users however Council’s Information Technology resources have had to focus on business critical systems. In addition, issues have developed creating the custom configuration for these computers and installing relevant software. Council has been working with its vendors and it is anticipated solutions maybe available towards the end of next week.’’
