Is it a rip-off?

I won­der whether other read­ers may have no­ticed that there seems to be per­sis­tent pat­tern of high prices for fuel and gro­ceries etc suf­fered by con­sumers in the Dou­glas re­gion. I of­ten go to Townsville and the long trip down and back means I have plenty of op­por­tu­nity to buy goods and fuel and one thing I’ve no­ticed from these jour­neys is the com­par­i­son be­tween what I pay down south com­pared to what I of­ten pay for the very same goods up here. One ex­am­ple, and this is from just last week, is bread prices. I bought a 300g baguette at Woolies in Townsville and Big W for $1.75 last week. I bought the same size baguette on Fe­bru­ary 3 in Moss­man for $3.25! On the way up from Townsville the price I paid for diesel per litre was $1.59. I ask ev­ery­one to
