Is it a rip-off?
I wonder whether other readers may have noticed that there seems to be persistent pattern of high prices for fuel and groceries etc suffered by consumers in the Douglas region. I often go to Townsville and the long trip down and back means I have plenty of opportunity to buy goods and fuel and one thing I’ve noticed from these journeys is the comparison between what I pay down south compared to what I often pay for the very same goods up here. One example, and this is from just last week, is bread prices. I bought a 300g baguette at Woolies in Townsville and Big W for $1.75 last week. I bought the same size baguette on February 3 in Mossman for $3.25! On the way up from Townsville the price I paid for diesel per litre was $1.59. I ask everyone to
