Dave came to fix the door on the boat. He walked in wearing overalls with no shirt on underneath and I thought he had nice shoulders and thought ‘‘Yep, that’ll do!’’ We were together for a while and one day I mentioned that if he were to ask me a certain question, I would probably say yes. Then, he asked me to marry him, late one night. Our marriage works well, we both love sport and having a good laugh. The jokes and laughter are important. I also think being able to forgive and forget and not bring up past grievances is important for a marriage. We also take holidays together, where we can take off the many caps we wear such as parents and bosses and just be us. Just be Dave and Carol. The same as we were when we first met.
