Getting life skills
Port Douglas Surf Lifesaving
PORT Douglas Surf Life Saving began in 1983 with seven volunteer members.
In the years following, membership was increased and in 1993 the first Nippers (aged 6 to 14 years) joined the club.
Last season we had membership of 240 including 97 Nippers.
The Nipper program is the most important section of our club.
The majority of our members’ time and club resources are directed towards the management and training of our Nippers. The Nippers are the future of the club. Our members mainly come from throughout the Douglas Shire and some hail from the Tablelands and Cairns. With members ranging in age from 5 to 73 and coming from all facets of life it is a community-based family club.
Come along to our open day, March 30, and see what it’s all about.
