HOW long have you been involved with Judo and CCJC? For about one year now. Why do you love judo? I love it because it’s a lot of fun. You get to learn new positions, new throws, good self defence and the tournaments are so much fun. How did you get involved? One of my friends was doing judo and it sounded like fun so I decided to give it a try. Best thing about judo? You meet new people and make new friends. It is a good way to get fit and have fun. What about the worst? Probably when you do something wrong and you have to stand with your arms out to your sides. And the bruises you can get from the fights when you try to trip someone or they try to trip you. Do you have a favourite move or throw? Probably the O Goshi. It is when you step forward and wrap your leg around an opponent’s leg to pull it out from under them, making them hit the ground. Favourite team mate? Probably Holly. We are friends and in the same class at school. She is my sparring partner. We have heaps of fun. What as been your best result in competition? The second competition I was in, I won all of my fights against the kids in higher weight categories and higher belts. I came first in the Under-11s and second in the Under-12s. What belt are you and when is your next grading? I currently have a yellow, white stripe with a black tip. Hopefully I will do another grading in the next couple of months. Aspirations for judo? I really love it hopefully I can go far with it. But I might slow down a little bit as I get older. Why should people consider taking up judo? It is really fun and a good way to learn self defence for when you are older in case anything bad happens.
