Stuck in PD elevator

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

A MAN holidaying in Port Douglas was stuck in a lift for half an hour on Friday. The man, from Adelaide, was staying at the Meridian, on Davidson Street, when the power failed due to a fire in an electrical junction box in a building over the road. The fire brigade went to the junction box incident and eventually power was restored by Ergon – who are investigating the cause of the fire. PD ambulance officers also attended the Meridian while the man was caught in the lift. ‘‘We were able to talk to him all the time,’’ said officer-in-charge Ian Day. ‘‘He was OK about it all.’’ Of course these elevator incidents are rare in Port Douglas, but Mr Day remarked that ‘‘you’d be surprised how many lifts there are in the town’’.
