REIQ Cairns zone chair ap­pointed

THE Real Es­tate In­sti­tute of Queens­land (REIQ) has re-ap­pointed Greg Clyde-Smith as its Cairns zone chair. Mr Clyde-Smith be­gan his sec­ond con­sec­u­tive two-year ap­point­ment last week.

Mr Clyde-Smith has more than 40 years’ ex­pe­ri­ence in the real es­tate pro­fes­sion, in­clud­ing as a stock and sta­tion agent in NSW, a com­mer­cial leas­ing agent on the Gold Coast in the 1980s, and in com­mer­cial and res­i­den­tial sales, project mar­ket­ing and as a auc­tion­eer in Cairns since es­tab­lish­ing his own agency in 1991. His agency won the REIQ Cairns Agency of the Year award three times.

’’This year is shap­ing up to be a great one for our lo­cal mar­ket,’’ Mr Clyde-Smith said.

’’The mar­ket has been im­prov­ing since last year and we are an­tic­i­pat­ing strength­en­ing sales ac­tiv­ity as well as some sus­tain­able price growth which is great news.

’’I am honoured to be ap­pointed as an REIQ zone chair dur­ing a pe­riod which will also see sig­nif­i­cant changes to our in­dus­try with new leg­is­la­tion com­ing into ef­fect this year.’’

The REIQ has 17 zones across the State. Zone chairs as­sist com­mu­ni­ca­tion be­tween zone mem­bers and the REIQ board of di­rec­tors, in­form the board of real es­tate is­sues af­fect­ing zone mem­bers and act as the REIQ me­dia spokesper­son for mar­ket com­men­tary in their zone.
