Selling in NZ
OUR TPDD Executive Office, Doug Ryan, is currently in New Zealand travelling through the north island making sales calls on retail travel agents. This follows on from attending Queensland on Tour New Zealand with 55 other Queensland product and destinations where we took part in workshops l a s t week. In addition, Doug also had the opportunity to be part of the TNQ destination webinar session for New Zealand House of Travel agents, if that’s not enough New Zealand focus, TPDD were also part of the Tropical North Queensland stand at the Flight Centre consumer show in Auckland over the weekend. Feedback from New Zealand has been fan- tastic with high levels of interest in the Port Douglas and Daintree region as well as good destination understanding with trade.
The Port Douglas and Mossman Gazette team have begun selling space in this years Discover Paradise which will be launched in early May with nearly 125,000 copies being distributed throughout Victoria, NSW and Queensland. We are very excited about working on another fantastic edition following the successful redesign into an A4 landscape last year.
TPDD are finalising a campaign in conjunction with Quickbeds to drive sales in April, May and June. This will target both consumer direct and trade with a familiaris- ation component later in the year.
Earlier this week I hosted US travel blogger Dave Thompson who was revelling in the incredible experiences on offer in our region.
Current operator feedback is reporting trading similar to this time in previous years however our accommodation providers are showi n g s l i g h t l y stronger bookings for the coming week.
