Sharks prepare

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - SPORT -

MOSSMAN Port Douglas Senior Sharks Rugby League held a trial match against Edmonton Storm on Sunday afternoon.

This season the Sharks will compete in all four grades of rugby league, Under 18, C Grade, Reserve Grade and A Grade.

The Mossman Under-18s played against the Mount Garnet Under-18s side.

With 18 players taking the field, making it a 9 on 9 side it was very entertaining for all. This was a friendly match played in good spirit with both sides displaying good footy. These two sides will combine for the remainder of the season.

The Central Tyres Mossman Reserve Grade side, the Edmonton Reserve Grade side and the Mossman C Grade side which is dominated by players from Mt Garnet played in a round robin format which meant each team played the other two teams in a half hour match each.

All teams played great footy with all teams winning one of their games. It was very good signs for the two Mossman Port Douglas teams and there is no doubt that a few of these players will be putting pressure on their A grade counterparts.

The Mossman Port Douglas Custom Kitchens A grade side took in a team of 20 players into the trial match and came away with a win.

Mossman used the game to trial players in positions and made numerous changes throughout the game to see what combinations could work. At the end of game coach David Grainer was happy with what he could see from his players and looked forward to this weeks training to work on a few things he saw.

Next Saturday the Mossman Port Douglas Sharks will take on Yarrabah in three grades of footy at the Mossman Show Grounds.
