Get ready for 8-ball
WITH a month to go until the Port Douglas Pool Competition kicks off, now is the time to register your interest and get your team into the best competition around.
The Monday night friendly competition sees teams from all around Port Douglas’s favourite watering holes take to the tables with a lot of banter and fun, and battle it out over the length of the season to make it to the finals and be crowned pool champions and gain bragging rights.
President of the pool competition Chris Shiel encourages groups or individuals to contact him as soon as possible.
‘‘We are all really excited for the new season to start,’’ he said.
‘‘If anyone wants to form or join a team but are strug- gling to find a venue, give me a call, I may be able to help find somewhere.
‘‘ Current captains are asked to get their teams sorted, around eight people is ideal, and let me know.
‘‘We aim to start mid to late March.’’
A couple of last years teams will be looking for a new home after the closure of their venue last year, but with no short supply of pool tables around town, there is plenty of room for everyone.
Contact Chris Shiel on 0408 409 981 as soon as possible so that work on season draw can begin.
