PD police want drug info direct
PORT Douglas Officer in Charge Damian Meadows has asked the public to report any suspicious behaviour directly to local police so that they can ‘fight the scourge of ice’ in the community.
“I would implore people to provide information to local police to enable the police to rid the community of ice,” said Sergeant Meadows.
“They obviously can be afforded amenity protection and granted anonymity.”
His remarks follow the shock news three Port Douglas people were caught up in a drug bust which was part of the major operation North Kimberlite that targeted drug activity between Cairns and Port Douglas.
Police raided a house on Garrick St and arrested a 43-yearold woman for drug trafficking.
Bungalow man Paul Gra- ham, 34 has been identified as the principal focus of the 11month investigation however, Far North drug squad Det Sgt Brad Grace said the woman was allegedly considered a key figure in the supply chain in Port Douglas.
“She was ultimately involved in the supply of ice in the Port Douglas and Mossman areas,” he said.
“She was arrested and charged with drug trafficking, and has been bailed to appear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on November 11.”
Also in Port Douglas two men, aged 44 and 41, were charged with drug and weapon offences on the same day.
The pair will also appear in court next month.
