Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - LOOKING BACK -

During October, in the Mossman Port Douglas area, an incredible amount of $3,591.25 was raised with the support of local businesses and the wonderful caring people, including tourists, of this district. Pink Ribbon Day raises awareness and funds for breast and gynaecological cancers; research, prevention and education programs and support services for women and their carers.

You have made a difference by buying Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon merchandise and giving donations throughout October. We have such a wonderful community here in the Douglas region. Thank you all so much for your support once again this year. dangerous state of this ramp and its openness to these winds and sea conditions.

Even with the southerlies there are heaps of rocks getting piled on to the ramp itself.

Lots of us were having to clear them away including quite big rocks before we could even think about launching a boat.

Then retrieving a boat from the water has been terrible, as we stumble about on the rocks on and beside the ramp, while often trying to hold on to a boat being pushed around by the waves.

Thanks to the local government for sticking up for us and trying to get something done about it. It really is urgent. Every one of these ramps is an important asset locally as there are so many people lining up to use them in the good conditions.
