The State Emergency Services in Cairns were having a big cook up yesterday to have a meet and greet with the public. Coconut is a big fan of the SES cook ups, given that our own former SES chief, Bob Taylor of Wonga Beach, used to be a chef in the army and was a dead hand at the tongs at many a local sausage sizzle and the like where the local SES helped out with catering. Perhaps that’s why, possibly not entirely fairly, that the other emergency services believe that SES stands for Steak, Eggs and Sausages. How dare they. Good on the SES volunteers who do such a great job for the community. Cyclone season comin’ up folks, and then who you gonna call?
