Beauty you could eat

CHOCOLATE is a pereniial favourite of the ladies but now there’s a new reason to adore the cocoa bean.

Chocolate is being used as a body mask in progressive spa salons these days to help reduce signs of ageing, soften skin and lower stress.

Divine Beauty in Mossman has introduced a fizzing cocoa body wrap and chocolate mask and I decided to try it out.

Chocolate is rich in antioxidants, a compound that makes skin feel silkier and more youthful.

It helps to nourish hair, skin and nails, soften skin, enhance blood circulation and zap stress and anxiety. The beautician who treated me, Renay exfoliated my limbs and torso with a cocoa body exfoliant before applying the warm cocoa mixed paste.

I was wrapped in an aluminium blanket to keep the mixture warm and ensure it was able to penetrate my pores.

After 20 minutes in the aluminium blanket I was told to wash the mixture off in the shower adjacent to my beauty room.

Next came the chocolate face mask which was almost as decadent as the body wrap.

The mask also goes on as a warm liquid but as it begins to cool it solidifies preventing products applied underneath from evaporating. Instead they are forced into the skin ensuring deeper penetration and maximum effect.

Cocoa beans are powerful energisers due to their high concentration of caffeine and serotonin.

So as well as doing wonders for my skin, the treatment left me feeling energised with an enriched wellbeing.

The cocoa which is teamed with natural plant extracts helps to exfoliate, soften and make skin glow and look firmer.

I smelled so wonderful for days after that I put on weight thanks to my heightened chocolate addiction.

I am a true convert.
