WATERFRONT ACCESS

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - LOOKING BACK -

With reference to your article “Marina Unveils Plan”, The Reef Marina is – and always has been – absolutely committed to public waterfront access.

Our draft masterplan submitted to Council last year envisaged a floating “WaterWalk” which we believe would be unique in North Queensland and a tourism drawcard.

Responding to the Councillors’ rejection of this proposal, our new masterplan submitted earlier this month [ Gazette, January 28, page 10] features a fixed boardwalk spanning the waterfront and complementing our proposed Public Plaza and waterfront dining and entertainment areas.

I look forward to the day that I can proudly share Port Douglas’ regenerated waterfront with residents and visitors alike.

Andrew Hooper-Nguyen, Director, The Reef Marina
