Arts boost for super six events
SIX local arts projects in the Douglas Shire have been funded as part of Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund for 2015-2016.
“As Mayor and a RADF Committee member I am pleased to announce six exciting local projects which will enable our communities to share and participate in arts and culture,” Mayor Julia Leu said.
“I’m continually amazed by the diversity and depth of artistic talent in the Douglas Shire and Council is very proud to support these worthy projects.”
The projects are: Gondwana’s Garden ($3610) — A Port Douglas community initiated art event that will celebrate our tropical environment, while raising public awareness and understanding of the value of the proposed Mossman Botanic Gardens, through the display of more than 60 individual art works from about 20 professional artists from the region.
Harp Therapy ($2500) — Harp music and singalong sessions for residents and patients at Mossman Hospital.
