Se­niors click on to tech savvy classes

SWITCHED on shire se­niors are gain­ing the skills needed to thrive in the on­line world.

Moss­man Li­brary is again hold­ing its Tech Savvy Se­niors com­puter classes on Mon­day af­ter­noons.

Dou­glas Li­braries team leader Judy Coulthard said the free classes would help par­tic­i­pants gain the skills and con­fi­dence needed for dig­i­tal me­dia pro­fi­ciency.

“They will be sup­ported by li­brary staff to learn new skills in email, so­cial me­dia, in­ter­net bank­ing, smart phones and tablets, on­line shop­ping and cy­ber­safety,” Ms Coulthard said.

“Th­ese skills will help se­niors get con­nected and take the first step to be­com­ing tech­savvy.

“The train­ing is de­signed to make it easy for peo­ple to safely and con­fi­dently get con­nected and learn at their own pace.

“Hav­ing th­ese com­puter skills can make a huge pos­i­tive dif­fer­ence for se­niors as they can con­nect with friends and fam­ily more eas­ily, use in­ter­net bank­ing and even pur­sue fur­ther stud­ies.”

Tech Savvy Se­niors train­ing cour­ses are held on Mon­days from 1pm-3pm.
