A big hand for footy club’s new clock
FOOTY fans and players have welcomed a pre-season gift with the Port Douglas Crocs AFL Club receiving funds to install a new electronic scoreboard.
Club vice-president Chris Bradsworth said the scoreboard, worth almost $12,000, was expected to be ready for the Crocs’ first home game at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex on April 9.
“The old scoreboard is fairly worn, and having a clock that actually works will be sensational,” he said. “It’ll mean more of our volunteers can be put to better use at the club, which will help us to grow.”
It comes just weeks after rugby club the Port Douglas Reef Raiders secured a $5800 grant for a much-needed new scoreboard.
Funding for both scoreboards was secured through the government’s Stronger Communities Program.
