Next month Tourism Port Dou­glas & Dain­tree will be rolling out a num­ber of do­mes­tic cam­paigns to boost visi­ta­tion in April and May. For the first time we are part­ner­ing with TripAd­vi­sor to raise aware­ness of the desti­na­tion, and we are work­ing with Quickbeds on a multi-level cam­paign to build con­sumer aware­ness and drive sales for our shoul­der months. Our in­no­va­tive Show Me Your Par­adise cam­paign is cur­rently live and we have re­ceived some stun­ning sub­mis­sions in the photo and video cat­e­gories. If you have an in­ter­est in pho­tog­ra­phy and love Dou­glas like we do, please get in­volved and en­ter. We are host­ing a num­ber of ed­u­ca­tion­als this week wel­com­ing peo­ple from Italy, In­dia and Aus­tralia’s south­ern states. The re­gion also hosted two tele­vi­sion crews last week­end on some ex­cit­ing projects that will go live later in the year. We have a fan­tas­tic line-up of me­dia join­ing the an­nual Car­ni­vale me­dia famil in March to help cre­ate con­tent and buzz in the lead-up to the event. This year’s famil theme ‘Party on the reef’ will high­light the many de­lights of our coastal set­ting. In the lead-up to our lo­cal coun­cil elec­tions TPDD has pre­sented a set of ques­tions to the can­di­dates to bet­ter un­der­stand their po­si­tion re­gard­ing tourism in Dou­glas. The an­swers will be avail­able in the weeks lead­ing up to the elec­tion. Yours in tourism, Tara. leisure ac­tiv­i­ties in­clud­ing a day on the reef, a guided rain­for­est walk and soak­ing up the Port Dou­glas vibe. To date we have se­cured jour­nal­ists from Gourmet Trav­eller, The Couri­er­Mail, Gold Coast Eye, News Corp Es­cape liftout, The Cairns Post and Fox­tel Life­style Chan­nel web­site. This is set to be a sen­sa­tional famil cre­at­ing lots of ex­cit­ing con­tent in the lead-up to this year’s Port Dou­glas Car­ni­vale.
