LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS
To assist the tourism business community TPDD has asked candidates running in the local election the following questions to better understand their position regarding tourism. The answers will be available in the weeks leading up to the election. If you would like a copy of the answers once they are available please contact Mikala on firstname.lastname@example.org 1) How would you best represent and support the tourism industry in the Douglas Shire Council? 2) What do you see are the region’s current strengths and weaknesses in tourism? 3) What do you believe are the key issues facing tourism for the Douglas Shire? 4) Do you support the role of Tourism Port Douglas Daintree as an independent body working with industry and council to undertake destination tourism marketing of the shire? 5) Do you believe tourism should be a primary focus for economic development investment by Douglas Shire Council? 6) Will you actively support the continued funding by council to TPDD of at least $451,500 per annum? 7) Would you support increased funding for tourism marketing to help the industry better compete with other destinations? 8) What are the key policies for Douglas that you will work to achieve as a councillor?
