Tightly does it
THE Under-16 Douglas Muddies played Mulgrave at Fuller Park in the first day of a twodayer last Saturday, in one of the best games the team has played all season.
Captain Keel Sorensen lost the toss and the Muddies were sent into bat. Daniel Davidson and Nathan Deuble got off to an awesome start with both looking good at the crease, before Daniel was run out for 30 in the 15th over.
Ryan Doble was next and he and Nathan kept up the good work before Ryan was caught for six. Levi Trewick joined Nathan and the pair continued to bat well until Levi was given out, caught behind for 13.
Keel and Nathan batted out the last five overs with Muddies finishing their 32 overs with a satisfactory score of 3/150. Nathan finished with a brilliant 66 not out.
Muddies opening bowlers Ryan and Liam bowled well, but were unlucky not to take a wicket. It was Reuben Allison who eventually got the breakthrough, finishing his spell with two wickets for just 10 runs. Nick Rayner, Levi and Daniel also took a wicket each, and Keel picked up two wickets with his tidy bowling.
With tight bowling from the Muddies, Mulgrave could only manage 81 runs in their first innings. The match continues on Saturday.
Randall Smith under fire for Muddies B Grade.
