TV chef puts us on top of his menu
PORT Douglas is fast becoming a foodies’ paradise thanks to the fresh produce and wealthy visitors, says celebrity chef Adrian Richardson.
The TV chef, who was in Port Douglas last week, says high-end guests demand high quality meals and Port Douglas has the right produce to deliver.
“You’ve got multi-million dollar houses and the people that live and stay in those houses demand good food,” he said.
“You get a lot of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane people and they all want to eat well.
“I think Port Douglas is starting to open up. It’s not just about playing golf and fishing, it’s a lot about enjoying meal time.”
Port Douglas has become a contender for top spot on Mr Richardson’s most visited list. He was in Port Douglas last year for the three-day Taste Port Douglas food and wine festival and will return in August with 20 other talented chefs from across the country.
“Up here you need to cook a different way.
“Lighten up the meals with lots of lime juice, fresh herbs and zingy flavours, so when you’re eating it’s not too heavy,” he said.
