A new Draft Planning Scheme is expected to be awaiting the new Douglas Shire Council. The Draft Planning Scheme has been undergoing a State Interest Check with the State Government for several months. Deputy Premier Jackie Trad is anticipated to approve the Draft Planning Scheme for notification by 21 March. The Draft Planning Scheme will then be sent back to the new Council to determine the community consultation process. Once community consultation has been completed, Council may make changes to the Draft Planning Scheme before it is adopted and sent back to the State Government for final approval.
