Elections: voting is already underway
POSTAL voting for the March 19 council election is now open and applications must be completed by 7pm, Wednesday, March 16.
An application for a postal vote or an electoral visit vote can be lodged by post, fax, email or hand delivery to the Electoral Commission Queensland (ECQ).
Ballot papers received via postal vote must be completed before 6pm on polling day and received by the Returning Officer before close of business on Tuesday, March 29.
Election results will be posted on the ECQ website as they become available on election night.
Results will be updated over the following 10 days as postal votes are received and counted, with final votes for each day posted by 4:30pm.
The Commission will not declare the result of any seat while there remains a mathematical possibility that more than one candidate could win.
Queensland residents who have not enrolled are still allowed to vote at the election provided they enrol before 6pm, Friday March 18.
