DEBBIE’S DAY/NIGHT/DAY

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Debbie the Soccer Mum laid careful plans so she could attend a friend’s graduation from JCU last week. Having made arrangements for the pick up of kids, and vowing to make their dinner later on, she set off in a limo to collect a few “girlfriends” to help celebrate with the graduating student. It’s a long story but on fast forward it would look like this: drinks in limo on empty stomach, drinks in function venue, run in with “unreasonable” security guard over sandwich, need for more drinks so hike around Cairns wharf district to find some, lost, phone friend for help, return to venue and more drinks, run in with toothless psychic from Kuranda and discovery of unexpected spiritual bond to be followed up later, realisation her phone is missing, more drinks in limo on way home, messy arrival, too late to make dinner for kids, sleep on couch, remorse for accusing husband of having lost her phone, sober revelation about phone whereabouts, hustle around to the venue first thing before opening time even and pleading with security guard to be let in, retrieval of phone left on a charger at the venue, kids dropped off at school.
