FIX THE SIGNAGE!

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - BUSINESS -

The Douglas Shire is highly dependent on tourism, Port Douglas being a major centre for tourists with the balance of the shire providing services to the tourism operators. DSC is economically dependent on tourists.

The signage in Port Douglas is atrocious. Why do we want tourists to leave in two hours when there has not been a parking inspector for something like eight years? Why do we not want to correct or instal signs which have safety connotations?

I have made written submissions to our previous Cairns councillor, years ago (now Mayor Julia Leu) and the current council, to no avail.

Hopefully the new team comin in will give some thought to smaller items that are of value to today’s tourism and are within the DSC’s financial abilities. Like fixing the signs! Rather than dream projects for which there is no funding.

Robert Brown, Port Douglas
