Council gets out the sandbags
COUNCIL put out the message yesterday that it was making sand and sandbags available, as the shire turned a weather eye towards looming days of wet weather and even a possible cyclone.
Council said Mossman and Daintree River catchments are on Flood Watch as the Bureau of Meteorology warned of heavy monsoonal rains in the next couple of days, with daily falls of up to 100-150mm expected and localised falls of up to 200mm possible.
River level rises above the minor flood level are possible and heavy rainfall may also lead to localised flash flooding.
