Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS - Shane Nichols

IT’S the little town that could. And the agency that could.

Raine and Horne Port Douglas principals Travis Schumacher and David Cotton were celebrating this week with another set of gongs from the company’s annual state awards where they took out high honours amid competition from 83 agencies, some in the biggest markets in the state.

The awards recognise the performance and the efforts of salespeople, principals, property managers and admin staff over the previous calendar year. Raine & Horne Mossman/Port Douglas received a slew of individual and staff awards including coming second for gross amount commission of sales.

As well the office came fourth in number of sales, Travis Schumacher ranked fourth in number of sales for a salesperson (David Cotton took fifth), and Mr Cotton came third for dollar value by a salesperson.

“Every year since we bought the business we’ve moved up in the rankings,” David Cotton said.

“We’ve gone from about tenth in the first year, to last year we were third. Now we’re second, behind Toowoomba.”

Mr Cotton attributed much of their success to the fact “we are following our systems, the systems we put in place, we are pretty stringent about that”.

“And we have very good software behind us, with a strong and active database that certainly lets us communicate very well with our vendors and potential purchasers.”

Mr Schumacher said “it was a proud ahievement and our next goal is to win it.

“We’re pretty happy to mixing it with agencies that come from towns with hundreds of thousands of people.”
