Fowler Cup success for DNA
MORE than 45 teams from around the region took part in the Fowlers Cup hosted by the Douglas Netball Association on the Mothers Day weekend.
Douglas teams were magnificent throughout the weekend with the local association teams doing brilliantly. The Under 10s Red Dragons coached by Alex Heidke came out winners, as were the Under 12s Young Diamonds coached by Kath Baxter.
The Under 10s Young Gems coached by junior coach Loukita Aston Boyle were runners up.
Young Guns 1 & 2 coached by Sharon Beechey came in third overall.
All other Douglas teams – Aftershock, Pythons, 7 Pointers, Young Sapphires, Blue Lightning, Young Stars and Dolphins – played amazingly well making the weekend a fabulous success.
A very special thanks to all the sponsors, especially the Reef Raiders who helped out enormously with our extra courts – without this our carnival would not have been possible.
A special mention to Sharon Beechey and the Cairns and Baxter families who with the help of their great friends made the canteen such a success.
Thank you so much to all our parent helpers, umpires and to anyone who helped on the day or the previous weeks leading up to this event.
