Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS - Vanessa Eckert

ATTACKING two woman and a police officer while high on ice are among the 14 charges that landed a 28-year-old Cairns man with a three-year jail sentence.

During a drug-fuelled rampage Zay Rima Edmond Oscar Tamou kicked a 69-year-old woman in the chest as she stood on the side of a Cairns street with her granddaughter.

The Cairns Magistrates Court was told Tamou had initially walked by the woman, then returned and taken a number of steps before kicking her.

She fell to the ground heavily and Tamou then fled.

Another woman, who had been driving down Pease St on November 1 last year, had seen Tamou being chased and, believing him to be in trouble, had stopped to help.

While the woman, 50, was giving him a lift, he punched her in the side of the face.

Tamou pleaded guilty to 14 charges from October to December last year in Cairns and March and April this year in south east Queensland.
