TPDD applauds Melissa Head and the Knockout Events team on a successful Port Douglas Carnivale despite the extreme weather conditions. The events were well thought out, entertaining and polished. The Douglas party spirit was alive and well with locals inspiring visitors to make the most of the bad weather. Many of the regions operators have just returned from the annual Australian Tourism Exchange on the Gold Coast. TPDD participated in the media program with 21 appointments with freelancers and publications from around the world. The Great Barrier Reef Drive was very well received and the destination can expect further media coverage as a result. The trade portion was held over four days with TPDD conducting 95 appointments. Feedback from our international trade partners is that the region is set for further inbound growth off the back of the lower Australian dollar and confidence in global markets as well as Australia’s strong security standing. We are currently finalising our marketing activities for the coming fiscal year and Executive Officer, Tara Bennett, is happy to meet with operators to outline our plans. TPDD activities will continue to target key domestic and inbound markets to boost year round visitation and overall yield. Douglas and bringing over 1900 passengers with her! This visit is part of a 10 night Queensland cruise, departing from Sydney. Sun Princess will be anchoring at 07:00 and departing at 18:00. The ship is heading out to Willis Island following time in Port Douglas.
