RSL pre­pares to com­mem­o­rate Viet­nam Day

AU­GUST 18 is Viet­nam Veter­ans’ Day and also this year the com­mem­o­ra­tion of the 50th an­niver­sary of the Bat­tle of Long Tan, which was fought on Au­gust 18, 1966.

The bat­tle in­volved 105 Aus­tralians with the loss of 17 killed and 25 wounded.

Let us all pay trib­ute to all viet­nam veter­ans and hon­our one of our own, J. Bar­rett, who paid the supreme sac­ri­fice dur­ing the Viet­nam War.

Moss­man RSL will con­duct a ser­vice at the RSL Hall, 28 John­ston Rd, Moss­man, be­gin­ning at 11am.

Ev­ery­one is wel­come to join with the mem­bers of the sub branch to hon­our those who served in Viet­nam.

The pres­i­dent Ron Sav­age will ad­dress the gath­er­ing and this will fol­low by fa­ther Barry Pat­ter­son.

Then any­one who would like to give an ad­dress is wel­come to par­tic­i­pate.

A wreath lay­ing ser­vice will fol­low. Wreaths ($25 each) are avail­able at the sub branch.

This ser­vice is fol­lowed with a BBQ and veter­ans’ and fam­i­lies are wel­come to stay.
