The in­fluenza A out­break at Moss­man Hospi­tal was de­clared over at 8am on Fri­day Au­gust 5. A spokesman said Moss­man Hospi­tal was now oper­at­ing as nor­mal. “No ser­vices were af­fected dur­ing the out­break of in­fluenza A.” 26 staff dis­played flu-like symp­toms dur­ing the out­break. Ac­cord­ing to the spokesman most of the 26 staff have now re­turned to work, and the seven pa­tients that were con­firmed as hav­ing in­fluenza A are all “re­cov­er­ing well.” “All pa­tients and staff with flu-like symp­toms were given an­tivi­ral med­i­ca­tions. Pre­ven­tive an­tivi­ral med­i­ca­tions were also is­sued to well pa­tients and staff. “In line with stan­dard pro­ce­dures in manag­ing com­mu­ni­ca­ble dis­ease out­breaks, the hospi­tal took pre­cau­tions to pre­vent the fur­ther spread of the virus, in­clud­ing pa­tient iso­la­tion, good personal hy­giene, lim­it­ing vis­i­tors, restrict­ing new ad­mis­sions, and ex­clud­ing un­well staff from com­ing to work.
