Legends descend on Yachty
LIVE entertainment is plentiful in Port Douglas at this time of year and one of the season’s highlights is The Vegas Legends Show on at the Port Douglas Yacht Club on Sunday, August 14.
Principal artists Kerry James and Wayne Wiltshire headline the show which features myriad impressions and 17 costume changes.
Kerry James says that the show appeals to both young and old.
“The show is part music, part comedy with lots of audience participation,” she said.
Artists who ‘appear’ in the show include a vast range of celebrities from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra to Bette Midler, Liza Minelli and Sonny and Cher.
“Critiques of our show include phrases such as ‘musically exciting, raucously funny’ and ‘sometimes a little bit crazy’,” Kerry said.
Kerry has been touring the show for the past 15 years in Australia and Asia and Wayne joined 5 years ago.
“Wayne is from Wiltshire, in the UK, and has worked all over the world and is truly an amazing performer – particularly his impressionist act,” she said.
After performing together for the past 5 years, according to Kerry, their show is extremely tight and polished and features a great deal of comedy.
Presented as a dinner and show event, it has all the hallmarks of a great night out.
According to club manager Richard Stapleton the purpose of staging these entertainment events is to take advantage of the Club’s venue and great location.
“We aim to have a couple of big shows each year,” Richard said, “and this year we are featuring The Vegas Legends Show, Rock the Yacht in September and Dave Hughes, comedian, early November.”
“The shows appeal to both members and visitors,” he said.
Tickets for The Vegas Legends Show are available for $35 each from the Club.
