Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

A MAN who died in a scuba diving incident this month has been described as “influential” in Far North fisheries management.

The body of Fisheries Queensland director Andrew Thwaites was recovered on August 10 after he failed to surface from a dive off Moreton Island, near Brisbane.

Paul Aubin, founder of Far North recreational fishing group Carefish, said the 44year-old’s death was a “tragic loss”.

“He will be missed both in fisheries management and as a good person in public service.”
