Quick­sil­ver VIII back on the beat

QUICK­SIL­VER’S flag­ship is re­turn­ing to the reef af­ter a five month hia­tus for a $1 mil­lion re­fit.

While she has been ready in Port Dou­glas the 120 ton Quick­sil­ver AG3 reef plat­form has been wait­ing for the winds to ease af­ter its own makeover, to com­plete the 36 hour tow back home at Agin­court Reef.

The Quick­sil­ver AG3 plat­form was taken out of the wa­ter for the first time in 21 years for a $1 mil­lion re­fur­bish­ment.

Mon­day was the first op­por­tu­nity in a month that Quick­sil­ver had the op­por­tu­nity to tow the plat­form back to the reef, with winds be­low 10 knots.

Tony Baker, Quick­sil­ver Group man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor said “this is great news for our lo­cal agents as we have been op­er­at­ing Quick­sil­ver V full for the past two months and we will be able to ac­com­mo­date more cus­tomers. To­day and Fri­day we will be op­er­at­ing Quick­sil­ver VIII and Quick­sil­ver V to the reef due to the num­ber of trav­ellers and in­cen­tive Groups in town”.
