Quicksilver VIII back on the beat
QUICKSILVER’S flagship is returning to the reef after a five month hiatus for a $1 million refit.
While she has been ready in Port Douglas the 120 ton Quicksilver AG3 reef platform has been waiting for the winds to ease after its own makeover, to complete the 36 hour tow back home at Agincourt Reef.
The Quicksilver AG3 platform was taken out of the water for the first time in 21 years for a $1 million refurbishment.
Monday was the first opportunity in a month that Quicksilver had the opportunity to tow the platform back to the reef, with winds below 10 knots.
Tony Baker, Quicksilver Group managing Director said “this is great news for our local agents as we have been operating Quicksilver V full for the past two months and we will be able to accommodate more customers. Today and Friday we will be operating Quicksilver VIII and Quicksilver V to the reef due to the number of travellers and incentive Groups in town”.
