This year’s WORLD CAS­SOWARY DAY will be held at the Dain­tree Rain­for­est Ob­ser­va­tory (DRO) on Satur­day Septem­ber 24th, 2016. The com­mu­nity event will run from 10am-2pm and in­clude talks by cas­sowary ex­perts, con­ser­va­tion and mar­ket stalls, live mu­sic, food, kids ac­tiv­i­ties (face paint­ing, story time, scav­enger hunt etc.), a film screen­ing and much more. Fall­ing in the mid­dle of school hol­i­days this is a great chance to pack up the fam­ily or es­cape the crowds for a great day of learn­ing and cel­e­brat­ing all things cas­sowary! The an­nual Fo­rum is Queensland’s most im­por­tant an­nual tourism gath­er­ing. It brings to­gether oper­a­tors, rep­re­sen­ta­tives, Min­is­ters and state and lo­cal gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials to de­bate the key is­sues fac­ing the in­dus­try and de­fine agreed pri­or­i­ties for sup­port­ing Queensland’s tourism in­dus­try to In­vest. Ex­cel. Grow. Last year Trop­i­cal North Queensland was one of the least rep­re­sented re­gions from around the state. Des­ti­na­tion Q is an in­for­ma­tive, thought pro­vok­ing fo­rum that tack­les a broad range of is­sues be­ing faced by the tourism in­dus­try. The strat­egy has won them the ti­tle of the big­gest des­ti­na­tion FB page in the world (now over 7.2 mil­lion fans).
