AN AMATEUR’S PROGRESS

Port Douglas & Mossman Gazette - - NEWS -

Coconut is just back from Cairns Amateurs. An invitation may have accidently landed in Coconut’s mailbox but he chose to take it on faith as an invitation meant for his good self. He had never been before so he was definitely an amateur, he decided. So he went to the big do. It was quite dazzling and bewildering as he watched what the professionals got up to, much of which may have been connected to strange bonding rituals of the turf folk. Anway, Coconut enjoyed lots of free stuff but met his match in the vodka tent, which led to his installation in the emergency field tent, or “the tank” as he heard them say. Coconut’s memory is just starting to return, although parts of his recall may be lost forever, such as anything before the turn of the century. What a shame as Coconut’s best stuff is back then.
